I had such fun reading about the brownies but really love your uniqueness. I heard President Obama recently eulogize Bo Biden and he referred to Bo as “an original.” A wonderful compliment and I think a fitting one for you. I am inspired to work diligently to be an original. I’ll be back.
Thank you for your enthusiastic expression of you.

Thanks, Matt. I’m really happy you stopped by. I hope you will enjoy my future recipes and writings. I want to create a space here not just for cooks, but for anyone interested in self-expression, which I know includes you.

I was delighted to find your site. I have been cooking without garlic for a number of years because my sweet husband with the Irish stomach cannot handle garlic or raw onions. And he would be a vegetarian (with some fish) if only I could forgo meat occasionally. Hope to see more of your recipes like the salsa. I know that he can manage that. Thanks for your great sounding recipes.

Hi June,
Thank you for your sweet note. It can definitely be a challenge cooking for someone with these sensitivities. I will have many more garlic (and raw onion) free recipes coming! You two might enjoy my tortilla pizzas. Garlic-free pizza is HARD to find. I think you will both enjoy these and you can top yours with some meat 🙂

Hi Susan,
Are you looking to substitute the coconut flour for the almond meal? Almond meal is just blanched almonds. These cookies are 100% gluten-free. I’ve never tried these cookies with coconut flour so I cannot advise on that front.

100% Sprouted Wheat Sandwich Bread
Do you sprout your own grains, or do you purchase the grain already sprouted? I’ve found instructions to DIY, and I’ve found places to purchase sprouted wheat flour. If possible, I’d like to purchase sprouted wheat grains that I can grind. Just curious, because I really want to try this recipe….hopefully for the rest of my life! Just wondering how you get from grain, to spouted grain, to flour….and I guess hoping that you also skip the middle step of sprouting/drying prior to grinding. With great appreciation for your excellent teaching skills and willingness to share, especially with us newbies. Linda Ellis

Hi Linda,
Thanks for your question. I do not sprout my own grains. When I make the sprouted wheat sandwich bread, I buy pre-ground sprouted flour. I use Arrowhead Mills and love it. I’ve read a lot about sprouting your own grains and I have always been intimidated by my concerns of contaminating the grains. I am probably overly concerned about it, but that is why I have always purchased the sprouted flour instead of doing it myself. If you don’t have a store near you that sells this brand, you can purchase it online through Vitacost. I don’t imagine anyone would sell whole sprouted grains as I am not sure what the shelf life would be once it is sprouted, not sure though…
Let me know if I can help in any other way. The sandwich bread you referenced is one of my favorites. I think you will love it. If you decide to sprout your grains let me know how it turns out! I would love to add that to my repertoire…once I stop being such a nervous nelly 🙂

Hi Betty,
We were changing things around on the blog recently. We’ve taken down that cookie recipe because we recently opened a bakery! You can check us out at temimasbakery.com
Sorry for any inconvenience.

Hello Kathryn
I’m Rita, following you from Portugal. I want to do your sweet potato and apple pie but I have some doubts about the ingredients. What do you mean with “pepitas” and “brown rice puffs”. It’s possible for you to send me a picture of this ingredients?
Thank you very much and continue with the good recipes!
Kathryn says
Hi Rita!
Pepitas are just another name for pumpkin seeds. But they are not necessary if you don’t have them in Portugal. You can substitute more sunflower seeds or nuts. And brown rice puffs are like a cereal in the states. Here is a picture on amazon https://www.amazon.com/Arrowhead-Mills-Cereal-Puffed-Rice/dp/B000EVQ0NQ?th=1
I hope that helps!
